Why Concerned Women PAC Endorses:
Minnesota congresswoman Michele Bachmann is the type of conservative liberals love to hate: an outspoken stalwart of family values who knows what she believes in and is determined to fight for it.
Elected to Congress in 2006, Michele quickly gained a reputation as the principled reformer who advocates free-market, limited-government policies. She has quickly become a leading opponent of pork-barrel spending, refusing to accept earmarks. She pushed for increased research into alternative energy forms to provide Americans with much needed relief at the gas pump.
Michele understands that taxes are simply just too high. Rather than scooping deeply into the pockets of the middle class, Michelle believes in letting Americans keep more of what they earn.
In the Minnesota senate, she drafted the taxpayers’ bill of rights and fought to make permanent important tax relief passed by Congress in 2001 and 2003.
Prior to her service in the state senate, Bachmann worked for five years as a tax litigation attorney. Having worked on hundreds of civil and criminal cases, she understands the need to alleviate the tax burden on small businesses and families.
Michele’s conservative record is evident of her determination to protect the principles important to America’s families:
· Voted to protect the equal rights of life in the womb under the 14th amendment.
· Authored a constitutional amendment that defined marriage as between a man and a woman. Openly opposes any form of civil unions or gay rights.
· Co-authored a bill that would require public schools to include alternative explanations for the origin of life.
· Co-sponsored the Broadcaster Freedom Act of 2007, which prohibited the FCC from requiring broadcasters to present opposing viewpoints on controversial issues of public importance, commonly referred to as the Fairness Doctrine.
CWPAC is proud to offer a strong endorsement of Michele Bachmann for Congress. Past endorsements also include:
· Susan B. Anthony List, a political action committee helping pro-life women gain election to Congress.
· National Pro-Life Alliance, a pro-life coalition of over half-a-million Americans.
· Americans Taxpayer’s League Liberty Fund, an advocacy organization fighting for lower taxes.
· Club for Growth, a political action committee supporting candidates who advocate limited government and lower taxes.
2010 Race Outlook:
Liberals have been targeting Michelle for years, but continue to miss the mark. In 2008, Michele proved that solid conservative values overcome a bottomless wallet. She won the 6th district (50-43) even after her liberal opponent, El Tinkenburg, received an influx of donations less than a month before Election Day to the tune of $1.5 million.
Bachmann represents one of the most Republican-friendly districts in Minnesota. John McCain carried the 6th district by 8 percentage points in 2008.
But liberals are desperate to silence Michelle’s clear conservative voice. They will vigorously attack her in the 2010 congressional race. With your help, Michele will continue to represent the sixth district, fighting for limited government, lower taxes, and conservative values.
